The World Championship Motocross 2016 started from Qatar. Losail hosted the first round of this season.

Round 1: GP of Qatar - Losail - 27.02.2016

First round of World Motocross Championship, which for the fourth consecutive time, started from Qatar where the artificial lights of Losail circuit have illuminated the start of the 2016 season. In the MX2 was expected the return of Jeffrey Herlings (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) who, riding his KTM 250 SXF supported by Athena GET and after the struggles had during 2015 was still presented as the man to beat. The Dutchman, in perfect shape after the injuries,won both motos and got the red plate of the overall. Third place for his teammate Pauls Jonass (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing) author of two great performance ended both motos in third place. In the premier class, the MXGP, no prediction was possible, 'cause the large number of claimants to victory. Among them, the defending champion Romain Febvre(Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Team) who brought in the race his YZF 450 equipped with the control unit RX1 Evo ECU and the data acquisition system M40. His teammate, Jeremy Van Horebeek (Monster Energy Yamaha Racing Team) who was also in the race with the Yamaha YZF 450 with RX1 Evo ECU and the M40 data acquisition system ranked fourth in the overall of the day. Behind him, Antonio Cairoli (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing). The Sicilian champion arrived in Qatar, riding his KTM SXF 450 supported by Athena-GET, for the his first race of the season and not in great physical condition, after the injury suffered in Sardinia during the winter training. Tony has always proved to be one of the fastest drivers on the track and signed great lap times in both races ended in sixth and fourth. Seventh overall, at the end of the day, his team-mate, Glenn Coldenhoff (Red Bull KTM Factory Racing).

The Motocross World Championship moves to Thailand where, on Suphan Buri track, next Sunday will be held the second round of eighteen scheduled.

Il team Magneti Marelli Checkstar e Tony Cairoli saranno ancora protagonisti nel magico scenario dell’Autodromo di Monza. Il pilota di Patti sarà infatti, per il terzo anno consecutivo, uno dei personaggi più attesi del Monza Rally Show, in programma dal 27 al 29 novembre.La Citroen DS3 WRC di Cairoli, è stata presentata alla stampa nella prima giornata di EICMA dedicata ai media.Ci sono grandi aspettative per l’otto volte campione del mondo di motocross, dopo il sesto posto dello scorso anno e il recente trionfo ottenuto al RallyLegend di San Marino. Il sodalizio con il team Magneti Marelli Checkstar e Athena continua a riservare grandi soddisfazioni a Tony anche sulle quattro ruote: una partnership caratterizzata dalla sintonia fra eccellenze italiane del mondo dei motorsport.La presentazione è avvenuta, presso lo stand Athena, visto il rapporto di collaborazione che unisce il pilota siciliano e la nostra azienda. Sabato 21 novembre sempre presso lo stand Athena, Cairoli si è concesso a un bagno di folla con i suoi fan accorsi alla 73esima edizione di EICMA. “Sono felice di presentare la macchina con cui correrò al Rally di Monza, in una cornice importante come quella dell'EICMA." - ha dichiarato Tony Cairoli.

  • Presentation to the public Saturday 21st November


New cylinder kits for Yamaha WR450 F

Athena presents the new standard and big bore cylinder kits for the flagship enduro bike from Yamaha, which can now be installed also in the latest E.I. bikes. In these new cylinder kits, the nickel silicium coated cylinder is matched with a forged piston lighter than the OE, to reach best performances and reliability. The kit is bolt on, ready to be installed in the engine without any modification and the gaskets have been developed using last generation technologies. Romain Febvre (2015 MXGP World Champion)

Ernée, north-west of France, was the track of the MX 2015 last race, with the MXoN 2015. As expected, with many teams without their best riders, there has been the duel between Team France and Team USA.

French Team, with Romain Febvre, Marvin Musquin and Gautier Paulin beat the US Team with Justin Barcia, Cooper Webb and Jeremy Martin at the end of three exciting rounds.

Third place for Team Belgium, with Van Horebeek, Lieber and De Dycker.

We would highlight the great results of Athena GET; 8 in 9 bikes on the podium used our electronics, with GP1 Evo ECU and M40 Data acquisition system.

This was the last race of 2015 Season and we’re already waiting for a new exciting 2016 World Championship.
